Our Services
Youth Programs
At Sand n Straw Community Farm, we are proud to run the Young Pioneers Farm School for children ages 3-10. This enriching program, funded by families and charter schools, offers a fantastic array of learning experiences. Recognizing that many families cannot afford extracurricular activities, the Sand n Straw Foundation provides scholarships to ensure all
children, regardless of their financial situation, can participate. By supporting our foundation, you help nurture young minds and create lasting memories for children in need.
Adult Programs
Our Educational Workshops and Classes offer hands-on sessions in regenerative farming, sustainable living, and culinary arts using farm-fresh produce. We also provide supportive services for vulnerable adults, including those suffering from PTSD and those with disabilities, aimed at empowering underserved individuals through therapeutic horticulture, job training, and life skills development. The healing power of connecting with the soil is central to our programs, encouraging growth and well-being.
We emphasize the vital connection between the garden and the kitchen for overall health. Understanding where our food comes from and how it's grown fosters a deeper appreciation for nutrition and sustainability. By cultivating and cooking with fresh produce from our farm, individuals can improve their physical well-being, support local agriculture, and reduce their environmental footprint. Through these diverse initiatives, Sand n Straw Community Farm creates a supportive and inclusive environment for all community members. Our foundation also funds participation in the Farm School for vulnerable adults, ensuring they can benefit from our programs.
Helping Farmers
Beyond our educational programs, the Sand n Straw Foundation supports gardeners and farmers in creating and maintaining community-centered sustainable farms. We enable communities to enjoy locally sourced, fresh produce and connect with their local farmers. Our vision is to have an urban farm in every city, fostering community and promoting regenerative agriculture.
